Kuldeep Yadav Injured: 3 Possible Replacements for Champions Trophy

India’s premier spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, has sustained a groin injury that could sideline him from the upcoming ODI series against England. A vital cog in India’s ODI setup, Kuldeep has consistently been a middle-over enforcer with the ball. However, the BCCI has indicated that his participation in the Champions Trophy is also in doubt, leaving India to explore potential replacements for the marquee event.

Varun Chakravarthy
Another intriguing option is Varun Chakravarthy, who has been in exceptional form this year. The mystery spinner has claimed 17 wickets in seven international matches since his return, showcasing his ability to trouble batters with his unique variations. With Gautam Gambhir being a vocal supporter of Chakravarthy, the 32-year-old might be considered a wildcard for the Champions Trophy.

Ravi Bishnoi
Young wrist-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is another name in contention. While predominantly featured in T20Is, Bishnoi’s variations and attacking mindset could bring a fresh dimension to India’s bowling. With finger spinners like Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar expected in the squad, Bishnoi’s inclusion could add variety. Despite having played just one ODI, his skillset makes him a promising candidate.

Yuzvendra Chahal
Veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, once India’s go-to option in the middle overs, is a strong contender. Known for his ability to deceive batters with flight and turn, Chahal has an impressive record of 121 wickets in 69 ODIs, including two five-wicket hauls. Although he hasn’t featured in ODIs since January last year, his experience and proven track record could bolster India’s bowling attack.

India’s management faces a crucial decision in finalizing Kuldeep’s replacement if needed.
