Gary Neville believes Marcus Rashford’s time at Manchester United may be coming to an end following recent remarks by manager Ruben Amorim.
Rashford has been absent from the squad for United’s last three games, and in a recent statement, the forward expressed that he feels “ready for a new challenge.” During his absence, United has seen a mixed run of results, including a victory over rivals Manchester City, a Carabao Cup exit to Tottenham, and a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth.
Following the defeat to Bournemouth, Amorim was asked whether Rashford would return to the squad for United’s upcoming Boxing Day match against Wolves. The Portuguese coach declined to offer a clear response, stating, “It depends. We will see. It is my decision and it always will be. I want to see the best of my players, and I try different things with different players. That’s my focus.”
Gary Neville, however, suggests that the situation is becoming untenable for both Rashford and the club. “It’s probably time for both parties to move on,” Neville commented, reflecting on the ongoing exclusion of Rashford. “It’s not really big team news anymore; it’s become a pattern. Leaving him out for three consecutive games indicates that something is not right.”

Neville further pointed out that Rashford’s absence signals a likely separation from Manchester United. “At this stage, it’s obvious something has gone wrong, and it doesn’t look promising for either Rashford’s future at the club or United keeping him,” Neville continued. “This could be the inevitable end of his journey with United.”
He added that the situation is becoming a distraction for both the manager and the club. Drawing comparisons to other players who have struggled at United, Neville referenced Jadon Sancho’s improvement after joining Chelsea and Scott McTominay’s successful move to Napoli. He suggested that Rashford might similarly benefit from a change of scenery, saying, “Marcus might think it’s the right thing for him as well.”
With the January transfer window approaching, it appears increasingly likely that Rashford could be heading for an exit from Old Trafford.
