Mithali Raj and Nooshin Al Khadeer have parted ways with Gujarat Giants (GG) ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Mithali, the former India captain, served as the mentor for GG during the first two editions of the WPL. She will now take on a similar role with the Andhra Cricket Association, overseeing the state’s pathway structures and working with the senior team.

Nooshin Al Khadeer, the former India offspinner who was GG’s assistant coach for the first two seasons, is also leaving. She is currently focusing on her role as head coach of the India Under-19 women’s team, preparing them for the second edition of the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia, where India will defend their title.
The announcements come just days before the WPL mini-auction on December 15. However, the team made the decisions before the 2024-25 domestic season began. Michael Klinger will continue as GG’s head coach, with Daniel Marsh and Pravin Tambe joining as batting and bowling coaches, respectively. Marsh previously coached Tasmania and served as assistant coach for the Australia women’s team, while Tambe, known for his IPL success, will continue as the spin-bowling coach for Lucknow Super Giants.
Despite GG finishing last in the first two editions of the WPL, Klinger is optimistic about the team’s future. With a purse of INR 4.4 crore for the auction, GG, owned by Adani Sportsline, are expected to be active in the market. The team has released six players, including former captain Sneh Rana, and will look to strengthen their squad for the 2025 season.
