South Africa made four changes for the decisive ODI against England in Potchefstroom after their six-wicket defeat in Durban. Tazmin Brits, Sune Luus, Sinalo Jafta, and Ayanda Hlubi were replaced by Lara Goodall, Anneke Bosch, Mieke de Ridder, and Masabata Klaas, revamping the team’s lineup.

England won the toss and chose to bowl first on a hot afternoon, aiming to chase under the floodlights later. In a surprising move, they brought back Lauren Bell, replacing Lauren Filer, despite Filer’s impressive 3 for 32 in the second ODI. This rotation suggests England’s management is mindful of player workloads ahead of the Test match in Bloemfontein.
South Africa’s batting lineup, with a revamped top three, faces an early challenge against England’s bowling attack. Meanwhile, Chloe Tryon, who top-scored in the second ODI, emphasized the importance of being proactive against England’s spinners. She stated, “Once you get into your shell against world-class players, they’ll get you out.” Furthermore, she highlighted that avoiding the loss of wickets in clusters is crucial to securing victory.
On the other side, Maia Bouchier, who scored 33 on her return from a neck injury in Durban, expressed confidence in England’s approach. “We go in with a positive mindset,” she said. “This is the big one. We want to win this game and the series. If we can replicate our last performance, it would be amazing.”
