Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most popular teams in the IPL, with a massive following of 23 million fans. In an effort to expand their reach, RCB recently launched a new Hindi social media account aimed at connecting with a wider audience. However, the move has sparked significant backlash from Pro-Kannada groups.

RCB’s decision to cater to Hindi-speaking fans has not gone well with a section of their loyal fanbase in Karnataka. Pro-Kannada organizations have raised concerns about the promotion of Hindi in the state, urging the team to shut down the account. These organizations have been vocal about their opposition to the increasing presence of Hindi, particularly in Bengaluru, where campaigns encouraging the use of Kannada are gaining momentum. Several instances of discrimination against Hindi speakers have also been shared on social media.
On the other hand, some fans have appreciated RCB’s effort, viewing the move as a step to build greater support across regions and boost the team’s following for future seasons.
In other news, RCB made key signings at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The team retained star players like Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar while strengthening their squad with new talent. They added players such as Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt, Josh Hazlewood, and Krunal Pandya to bolster various departments, aiming for a stronger campaign in the upcoming season. The Challengers hope these additions will contribute to their quest for their first IPL title.
