Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has issued a warning to Arsenal regarding their interest in 19-year-old wonderkid Arda Güler, amid speculation linking the midfielder with a move to the Premier League.

Güler, whom Los Blancos signed from Fenerbahçe in 2023 on a six-year deal, has struggled to find first-team opportunities under Ancelotti. Despite his impressive performances for Turkey at Euro 2024, the young talent has struggled to make a significant impact at the Bernabéu, failing to score in 13 appearances during the 2024/25 season.

As the January transfer window nears, Güler’s future at Madrid has come into question, with Arsenal reportedly eyeing a loan move for the midfielder. It is believed that the Gunners are keen to replicate their success with Martin Ødegaard by bringing Güler to north London, though the 19-year-old has yet to give up on breaking into Real Madrid’s starting lineup.

However, Ancelotti has moved to reassure both Güler and the club’s supporters, stressing the player’s value to the squad. After Madrid’s recent 2-0 win over Leganés, the Italian manager praised Güler’s contribution in attack, particularly his creativity and near-misses in front of goal.

“When the team plays well, it’s because everyone contributes. Arda has been very important for us in creating opportunities in the final third. He played a complete game and has been close to scoring,” Ancelotti said.

The victory against Leganés kept Madrid within four points of La Liga leaders Barcelona, who drew 2-2 with Celta Vigo. With a game in hand, Madrid will face Getafe at home next weekend, with Ancelotti stressing the importance of every squad member, including Güler, as the season progresses.

Despite Güler’s importance to the Turkish national team, Arsenal’s pursuit has sparked debate. Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has expressed doubts about the midfielder’s suitability for the Gunners. Speaking on talkSPORT’s Insider Gooners podcast, Bent questioned whether Güler would be able to secure a starting spot in Mikel Arteta’s squad, citing the competition in Arsenal’s midfield.

“He’s a talented player, no doubt, and I saw him shine at the Euros, but I don’t think he fits Arsenal’s needs,” Bent stated. “At Real Madrid, he’s not getting the game time, and at Arsenal, the competition is even fiercer. I can’t see him getting into the starting XI. It’s a great opportunity for him, but I don’t think it would be a good move for Arsenal.”

While Arsenal remains interested in Güler, with talks reportedly underway, Ancelotti’s commitment to integrating him into his plans could prove a significant factor in the young midfielder’s decision to stay and fight for a spot at Madrid.
