Fateh Singh moves from Nottinghamshire to Worcestershire on a three-year contract

Fateh Singh has signed a three-year contract with Worcestershire after a successful loan spell with the club in the summer. The 20-year-old spinning allrounder, who impressed during the One-Day Cup, took 15 wickets at an average of 24.13, including a career-best 4 for 52 against Somerset. He also made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire during a separate loan stint at the end of the 2024 season.

Fateh Singh, a former England U19 player who reached the final of the 2022 U19 ODI World Cup, had been part of Nottinghamshire’s setup since the age of nine. However, he only made 12 appearances for them, all in the One-Day Cup. With the rise of 16-year-old off-spinner Farhan Ahmed, Nottinghamshire allowed Singh to pursue more opportunities elsewhere for his development.

At Worcestershire, Fateh Singh will have the chance to advance his career with a club that finished sixth in Division One last season, their best performance since the two-tier County Championship was introduced in 2000. Singh expressed excitement about the move, stating that the club made him feel welcome and he enjoyed contributing to the team’s success during his loan spell. He also mentioned his goal of following in the footsteps of players like Jake Libby, who thrived after moving from Nottinghamshire.

Worcestershire chief executive Ashley Giles highlighted Singh’s potential and noted that strengthening the spin department was a priority for the club, especially after the tragic passing of left-arm spinner Josh Baker earlier in the year. The signing marks an important step as Worcestershire continues to build a competitive squad.
