Vivek High School Dominates Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy with Twin U-17 Titles

Vivek High School, Mohali, emerged as the star performers on the final day of the Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy (BSMBT) held at the Sector 78 Sports Complex, claiming both the boys’ and girls’ U-17 titles.

In the boys’ U-17 final, the hosts secured a 44-38 victory over Saupin’s School, Sector 32, with Aditya leading the way, scoring an impressive 25 points. Despite a valiant effort from Apaar Sood, who contributed 15-points for Saupin’s, Vivek’s strong performance ensured title stayed in Mohali. Learning Paths School (LPS), Mohali, finished in third place.

On the girls’ side, Vivek High School triumphed 45-40 over Yadavindra Public School, Mohali. Kashvi’s standout performance, where she scored 22 points, helped seal the victory for the hosts, while Ananya was the highest scorer for Yadavindra Public. LPS claimed third place in the girls’ U-17 category as well.

In other categories, KV High Ground School, Chandigarh, won the boys’ U-14 title with a 32-27 victory over YPS, thanks to Ankush’s 16-point performance. Gurmat scored 10 points for YPS. Vivek High School secured third place in the U-14 boys’ competition.

Police Public School claimed the boys’ U-12 trophy, defeating Vivek High School 34-23. Vansh’s 12-point contribution helped his team clinch the title.

Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, dominated in both the girls’ U-14 and U-12 categories. The Sector 26 school defeated Vivek High School 28-18 in the U-14 final, with Jiya scoring 12 points. In the U-12 girls’ final, Sacred Heart won 22-12 against LPS, with Naisha scoring a game-high 12 points. YPS, Mohali, finished in third place in both the U-14 and U-12 girls’ divisions.

Awarded for their excellence, Aditya Nagpal (Boys U-17), Ankush (Boys U-14), and Gurjot Singh (Boys U-12) were named the players of the tournament in their respective categories. On the girls’ side, Kashvi (Girls U-17), Jiya (Girls U-14), and Naisha (Girls U-12) received the same honors.

The event concluded with Amar Jyoti Chawla, Principal of Vivek High School, Mohali, and Renu Puri, Principal of Vivek High School, Sector 38, presenting awards to the winners.

With strong performances across age groups, Vivek High School confirmed its place as the dominant force in this year’s tournament.
