KTM has announced that Dani Pedrosa has signed a contract extension with the brand, securing his continued role in testing and developing the RC16 MotoGP bike for the 2025 season.
Pedrosa, who retired from full-time MotoGP racing at the end of the 2018 season, joined KTM in 2019 and has since played a crucial role in the development of the Austrian manufacturer’s MotoGP project. With this extension, the Spanish rider will enter his seventh year with KTM.
Although KTM has yet to secure a MotoGP victory since the 2022 Thai Grand Prix and has not won a dry weather race since the 2021 Catalan Grand Prix, Pedrosa remains optimistic about the team’s progress.
“It’s a pleasure to take our journey into another year,” Pedrosa commented on his contract renewal. “We know where we need to make improvements, and the effort of the whole factory has not eased at all in making the best bike for the riders to perform on track. I’m looking forward to what we can do for 2025 and the ideas that will come along.”

KTM’s Motorsport Director, Pit Beirer, expressed confidence in Pedrosa’s continued contribution to the team. “This was a straightforward decision for both parties, and that’s a good sign of a strong relationship and trust,” Beirer said. “We really believe in what Dani brings to our MotoGP program on different levels, not only in the saddle of the next generation of the KTM RC16. His contribution is vital, and we know the turnaround we are seeking will come—and with Dani as part of the team, it will only arrive quicker.”
In addition to his testing role, Pedrosa has made four wildcard appearances for KTM, including three in the past two seasons. However, there are no confirmed plans for any wildcard rides in 2025 for the 54-time Grand Prix winner.
As KTM continues its quest for success in MotoGP, Pedrosa’s role remains integral in shaping the future of the RC16 and the team’s competitive potential.
