Jamshedpur FC returns to action on Monday with high hopes of securing a positive result as they face Hyderabad FC in the final fixture of Round 5 of the Indian Super League (ISL). After a brief break, both teams are set to resume their campaigns at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, with optimism running high in both camps.
The match offers Jamshedpur an opportunity to continue their impressive start to the season, which has already surpassed last year’s campaign. With nine points from four matches, Khalid Jamil’s side is currently third in the standings. A win at home would propel them above Mohun Bagan Super Giant and just one point behind leaders Bengaluru FC.
“It’s a very important game for us,” Jamil emphasized during Sunday’s pre-match press conference. “We are playing in front of our home crowd. Hyderabad is a strong team, better than before, but we must prepare well and aim for a positive result.”
Jamshedpur’s strong start stems from their creative midfield, with Imran Khan leading Indian players in creating goal-scoring chances. Forwards Jordan Murray and Javier Siverio will be looking to capitalize on his playmaking abilities. Defensively, Stephen Eze remains a key figure at the back, adding stability to the Men of Steel’s backline.
However, Jamshedpur will face a Hyderabad FC side eager to build momentum after securing a clean sheet in their previous outing against Chennaiyin FC. That result ended a streak of five matches in which they had conceded at least two goals. Head coach Thangboi Singto, one of only two Indian coaches in the league alongside Jamil, will be looking to extend that defensive resilience and guide his team to their first back-to-back clean sheets since March 2023.

“The players have grown stronger as a unit in terms of respect and camaraderie. Football is a team-sport, and if they can translate that respect onto the pitch, the results will follow,” Singto said.
However, Hyderabad’s attack, led by youngster Devendra Murgaonkar, will need to step up as they remain winless this season. Despite their defensive improvement, Hyderabad’s lack of offensive firepower has held them back.
For Jamshedpur, the break was a welcome opportunity for players to recover, particularly those nursing injuries. Jamil announced that his fully fit squad is ready to sustain their early-season momentum. “It was good for everyone to rest and recover. The previously unfit players are now ready. We are prepared,” Jamil added, sounding confident ahead of their return to the Furnace.
With both teams motivated and rejuvenated, Monday’s clash promises to be a thrilling encounter as Jamshedpur FC aims to make the most of home advantage and continue their strong start to the season.
