New Zealand mounted a strong comeback after Sarfaraz Khan’s brilliant 150 and Rishabh Pant’s crucial 99, halting India’s resurgence in the ongoing Test match. India, bowled out for just 46 in their first innings, reached 438/6 by stumps on Day 4, extending their lead to 82 runs over New Zealand’s first-innings score of 402.

Sarfaraz and Pant played pivotal roles in India’s recovery, stitching together a vital 177-run partnership in just over 35 overs. Both batters attacked the New Zealand bowlers, putting India in a commanding position. However, the introduction of the new ball late in the day allowed New Zealand to claw back into the contest.
The Kiwis used the new ball effectively, dismissing both Sarfaraz and Pant while taking three wickets in quick succession. Despite India’s earlier dominance, the loss of these key wickets slowed their momentum as they attempted to extend their lead. At the close of play, Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 4, while New Zealand’s O’Rourke stood out with figures of 2-75.
New Zealand’s late strikes have kept the game evenly poised, ensuring that India’s lead of 82 runs still leaves room for a potentially thrilling final day of Test cricket. Both sides are battling for control, keeping the match finely balanced and setting up an exciting conclusion.
