On Saturday, October 12, India completed a 3-0 whitewash against Bangladesh in the T20I series with a commanding 133-run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The Suryakumar Yadav-led team batted first, posting a remarkable total of 297/6, the highest-ever T20I score by a full-member nation. Sanju Samson played a pivotal role, scoring a century and earning the player of the match award.
In bowling, Ravi Bishnoi, the only change in the playing XI for the third T20I, stood out with impressive figures of 3/30 in four overs. Moreover, his performance was crucial in limiting Bangladesh to 164 runs. As a result, India was able to secure a comfortable victory.
Bishnoi also made history by becoming the youngest Indian bowler to reach 50 T20I wickets, achieving this milestone at 24 years and 37 days old. He surpassed Arshdeep Singh, who previously held the record at 24 years and 196 days. Jasprit Bumrah is third on this list, having reached the mark at 25 years and 80 days.
Reflecting on his achievement, Bishnoi expressed, “I feel great about reaching this (50 T20I wickets) small milestone. Healthy competition in the team creates good pressure. I wanted to seize this opportunity and worked hard during my break to make the most of it.”
With the T20I series wrapped up, India will now shift its focus to the upcoming Test series against New Zealand, which begins on October 18.
