India set a remarkable record for the fastest team fifty in Test cricket, achieving the milestone in just three overs during the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. This record-breaking feat took place on day four of the match, eclipsing England’s previous record of 50 runs in 4.2 overs against the West Indies at Trent Bridge in July.

Openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a blazing start, with Rohit scoring 23 runs off just 11 balls, including four boundaries. Jaiswal was particularly aggressive, racing to 30 runs from only 13 deliveries, showcasing his impressive form. Rohit’s explosive innings ended when Mehidy Hasan Miraz clean bowled him.
The achievement highlights India’s aggressive batting approach and sets a new benchmark in Test cricket. Prior to this, England had broken its own 30-year-old record for the fastest fifty in men’s Test matches. The previous record was set during a Test match against South Africa in 1994.
This accomplishment not only reflects India’s growing dominance in the format but also emphasizes the evolving nature of Test cricket, where teams are increasingly looking to adopt a more attacking style. As India continues to make strides in the format, fans will eagerly anticipate how this record might influence their future performances.
