Australia is dealing with a major concern as all-rounder Cameron Green may miss the highly anticipated Test series against India. According to Cricket.com.au, Green sustained a back injury during the third ODI against England at Riverside Ground, Chester-Le-Street. Complaining of back soreness after the match, he underwent scans in London, confirming the injury and ruling him out of the next ODI at Lord’s.

The report indicates it will be challenging for Green to regain match fitness in time for the Test series. An Australian team spokesperson revealed that Green’s recovery timeline remains uncertain until he joins the squad ahead of the series opener at Optus Stadium in Perth.
Australia is currently second in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, with India leading. The upcoming series provides Australia with a chance to overtake India and improve their chances of reaching the WTC final at Lord’s. Green’s absence could be a significant blow to Australia’s campaign, given his all-round abilities, especially in home conditions. He has contributed crucial runs and has been impactful with the ball, scoring 302 runs in four Tests this year, including an unbeaten 174 against New Zealand.
If Green is ruled out, Aaron Hardie could be considered for his first Test call-up. Australia, led by Pat Cummins, will face India in a five-match series starting in Perth on November 22.
