Bopanna and Ebden Advance to Second Round at US Open with Win Over Dutch Pair

Rohan Bopanna of India and Matthew Ebden of Australia have progressed to the second round of the US Open men’s doubles competition after a solid performance in their opening match. The pair secured a 6-3, 7-5 victory over the Dutch duo Sander Arends and Robin Haase on Thursday night, completing the match in just 64 minutes.

Bopanna and Ebden, who were runners-up in the previous year’s tournament, entered the US Open after a challenging period, having suffered three consecutive losses prior to this Grand Slam event. Despite these setbacks, they demonstrated resilience and skill in their match against the Dutch team.

Initially, the Indo-Australian team struggled with their serves, dropping a game early on. However, they quickly regained their composure, winning four consecutive games and breaking their opponents’ serve twice to take control of the first set.

In the second set, Bopanna and Ebden faced a similar challenge, falling behind but managing to level the score at 5-5. They secured the win by breaking their opponents’ serve once more.

As the second seeds and reigning Australian Open champions, Bopanna and Ebden will face Argentina’s Federico Coria and Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena, who are unseeded, in their second-round match on Friday.
