Following their efforts, Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph took charge, dismantling South Africa’s batting lineup. Shepherd recorded impressive figures of 3 for 15 in his four overs, while Joseph achieved a career-best 3 for 31. Together, they shifted the match momentum, derailing South Africa’s hopes of leveling the series.
Strong Total Sets the Tone for West Indies
West Indies set a competitive total, knowing the chase would be challenging after successfully chasing 175 at the same venue two days earlier. Although South Africa started aggressively and reached 100 runs within the first 10 overs, the West Indies restricted their scoring, conceding only one boundary between the 10th and 14th overs. Shai Hope, after a match-winning 51 in the first game, once again showcased his skills. He aggressively targeted the leg side, scoring 39 of his 41 runs there before being dismissed. Patrick Kruger, on the other hand, made his mark for South Africa by taking two key wickets, including Hope’s, to keep the West Indies in check. Despite Kruger’s efforts, Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford added a crucial 47 runs for the fifth wicket, helping West Indies post 179.

South Africa began their chase with intent, with Reeza Hendricks leading the way. Hendricks hit 44 runs, including two sixes in one over, but his dismissal marked the beginning of South Africa’s downfall. Akeal Hosein’s return to the attack proved decisive, dismissing Stubbs and Van der Dussen, while Motie removed Ferreira, sealing South Africa’s fate. Joseph and Shepherd then cleaned up the tail, ensuring a 30-run victory and a series win for the West Indies.
