Irish batter Gaby Lewis made history by joining an elite group of female cricketers with multiple T20I centuries. She achieved this milestone during Ireland’s impressive victory over Sri Lanka in Dublin on Tuesday. Lewis scored a brilliant 119 off just 75 balls, leading Ireland to a total of 173/3 in their 20 overs.

In response, Sri Lanka fell short of the target despite half-centuries from Harshitha Samarwickrama and Kavisha Dilhari. This century was Lewis’s second in T20I cricket, her first coming against Germany during the 2021 ICC World Cup European Qualifiers.
With this achievement, Lewis joins a prestigious list of women who have scored more than one century in T20Is. This group includes West Indies players Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin, Australian stars Meg Lanning and Beth Mooney, England’s Danielle Wyatt, Uganda’s Prosscovia Alako, Romania’s Rebecca Blake, and UAE’s Esha Oza. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu and Fatuma Kibasu of Tanzania lead the way with three centuries each in the format.
Lewis’s knock not only secured her place in T20I history but also marked Ireland’s first-ever victory over Sri Lanka in women’s cricket. The win levels the T20I series at 1-1, with the ODI series set to commence on Friday.
