India’s Amit Rohidas one-match ban has been announced, and he will miss the Paris 2024 hockey semi-finals against Germany. The suspension follows a red card issued to Rohidas during India’s quarter-final match against Great Britain on August 4.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced that Rohidas was suspended for a breach of the FIH Code of Conduct. Consequently, India will play the semi-final with a reduced squad of 15 players. Hockey India appeal FIH has been made regarding this decision.
India’s captain, Harmanpreet Singh India hockey captain, acknowledged the setback but emphasized the team’s focus on the upcoming match. “While it is a setback to not have Amit on the pitch for the semis, we are focused on the task at hand,” he said.
The incident occurred in the 17th minute of the quarter-final when Rohidas swung his stick at Will Calnan. Initially, the on-field referee did not view it as a serious offense. However, a video review resulted in the Amit Rohidas red card.
Despite the setback, the Indian team, who are the Tokyo 2020 bronze medallists hockey, advanced to the semi-finals thanks to PR Sreejesh shootout saves against Great Britain. India will now face Germany on Tuesday in the semi-finals. Harmanpreet noted the team’s resilience, with every player stepping up in Rohidas’ absence.
