Alex Yee Makes Stunning Comeback to Win Gold in Men’s Individual Triathlon at Paris 2024

Great Britain’s Alex Yee delivered a remarkable performance to win gold in the men’s individual triathlon at the Paris 2024 Olympics on July 31. Despite facing a challenging race, Yee made a dramatic comeback to secure victory.

Initially, it appeared New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde had the gold medal within reach as he surged ahead on the second lap of the run, following a tightly contested 40km bike ride where 32 athletes formed a leading group. However, Yee’s extraordinary finish saw him overtake Wilde in the final meters, crossing the line in 1:43:33.

Wilde, who had led for much of the race, settled for silver with a time of 1:43:39. France’s Leo Bergere completed the podium with a bronze medal, finishing in 1:43:43.
