Perez and Verstappen Determined to Rebound at Belgian GP After Challenging Hungarian Race

After a string of disappointing races, Red Bull driver Sergio Perez is encouraged by his recent performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix and is determined to re-establish himself as a contender for podium finishes.

Perez showed impressive speed during the practice sessions at the Hungaroring, but his qualifying session ended in disappointment as he crashed out in the first segment. This mistake forced the Mexican to start the race from P16 on the grid. Despite this setback, Perez managed to climb up to P7, thanks to a clever strategy and strong race pace, leaving him optimistic about his chances in future races.

“The recovery we managed on Sunday in Hungary was very positive,” Perez said. “I think it showed how comfortable I was in the car over the weekend and the potential we had. It’s frustrating that we didn’t get to fight for the podium, because our race performance showed we had the ability to be up there. The final stint was very promising. Now it’s down to me to put the whole weekend together in Belgium, and I am confident we can.”

Perez praised his team for their hard work and dedication, particularly the mechanics who rebuilt his car overnight in Budapest. “We are working well together as a team, and what my mechanics were able to do to rebuild my car overnight in Budapest shows the incredible hard work everyone puts in, day in and day out. There’s one race to go before the summer break, and I want to repay my team for last weekend with a good result. They are all that matter to me,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri engaged in a fierce battle with his teammate Max Verstappen at the Hungaroring. Although he narrowly missed out on pole position, the Dutchman couldn’t keep up with the McLarens during the race and ended up fighting for the last podium place with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. After a collision at Turn 1, Verstappen had to settle for fifth place.

Looking ahead to the Belgian Grand Prix, which he has dominated for the past two years, Verstappen expressed his enthusiasm for the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. “Spa has always been my favourite track, with its fast corners and lots of opportunities for overtaking,” he said. “The fans are also great, and we receive a lot of support there. Hungary was a tricky race and a weekend to forget and move forward from.”

Verstappen added, “We have been working as a team to optimize our performance and get the best out of the car that we possibly can. Of course, the weather makes things a bit more unpredictable, but we will see what the race brings. The team has been working very hard, and being the last race before the summer break, we are looking forward to having a well-deserved rest and want to come back stronger. For this weekend, we will try and deliver the best result possible.”

As Perez and Verstappen prepare for the Belgian Grand Prix, both drivers are focused on improving their performances and securing strong results before the summer break.
