Swedish guard Pelle Larsson scored the decisive basket in overtime, securing a 120-118 victory for the Miami Heat over the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Summer League 2024 championship game on Monday. Tied at 118 with a target score of 120, Larsson’s 10-foot jumper over Scotty Pippen Jr. clinched the win, bouncing three times off the rim before dropping in.

“Pelle Larsson set the tone for us,” said Heat player development coach Dan Bisaccio. “That’s what you want from one of your draft picks, to come right in and dominate on both sides of the ball.”
Josh Christopher led the Miami Heat with 24 points, shooting 6-of-10 from 3-point range, and earned the Summer League MVP at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Miami center Kel’el Ware contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Alondes Williams added 21 points and Cole Swider scored 19, hitting 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Pelle Larsson, the 44th overall pick in last month’s NBA Draft by Houston and acquired by the Heat, hit 7-of-9 shots for 16 points, including the game-winner. “Coach drew up a great play that we’ve run before in practice,” Larsson said.
Jake LaRavia led the Memphis Grizzlies with 32 points, Pippen added 29 points and 11 assists, and G.G. Jackson scored 28 points. A Christopher 3-pointer put Miami at 118, but LaRavia’s corner 3-pointer tied the game, setting up Larsson’s dramatic finish.
Brooklyn’s Jalen Wilson was named the Summer League MVP after averaging 21.8 points over five games, while the All-Summer League First Team included Pippen, Jackson, Ware, Houston’s Reed Sheppard, and Jordan Miller of the Clippers.
