Spain’s Dani Olmo has hinted at a potential move to the Premier League as his £50 million release clause approaches expiration.
Reports indicate significant interest from clubs in England and Spain, with several eyeing a move for Olmo before the clause lapses next Monday. During Euro 2024, Olmo has been a standout performer for Spain, contributing three goals and two assists.
While clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona have shown interest in the RB Leipzig star, sources suggest Chelsea and Liverpool are unlikely to pursue him. Should Olmo’s release clause expire, Leipzig intends to demand between £60 million and £70 million for his transfer.
Speaking to Spanish radio El Larguero about his release clause, Olmo indicated, “Yes, they [interested clubs] already know what to do.” When asked about the advantage of signing him before the clause expires, he acknowledged, “That’s it. Otherwise, they’ll have to negotiate later. Exactly.”
In an interview with Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Olmo addressed his future, stating, “I’m not concerned. I have people handling everything for me. My focus is entirely on the Euros right now, especially with the final approaching. I’m not thinking about anything else.”
Regarding a potential departure from Leipzig after five years, Olmo commented, “We’ll see. I have a contract with RB Leipzig. It’s not something I’m actively considering. Those close to me know my stance and what I want to achieve. Winning titles is my priority, which was the basis for my contract renewal.”
Olmo emphasized his current commitment to Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign, saying, “We’re very close now, one step away from glory.” Reflecting on their semi-final victory over France, he added. “We executed our game plan well, responded effectively to setbacks, and controlled the game in the second half.”
As the deadline for his release clause nears, Olmo’s future in club football remains a topic of intense speculation, with potential suitors closely monitoring the situation. Moreover, clubs are eagerly awaiting developments regarding his next move amidst the ongoing speculation.
