Pathum Nissanka Sets LPL Record With Century Against Kandy Falcons

The group stage of the Lanka Premier League 2024 (LPL)is halfway through. Jaffna Kings, led by Charith Asalanka, top the table with 6 points from 4 games, while Wanindu Hasaranga’s Kandy Falcons are last with just 2 points from 4 matches.

Pathum Nissanka Sets LPL Record With Century Against Kandy Falcons

On July 9, the table-topping Jaffna Kings faced the bottom-placed Kandy Falcons at the Dambulla Stadium. Pathum Nissanka, opening for Jaffna Kings, delivered a spectacular performance by scoring a scintillating century.

Batting first, Jaffna Kings posted a total of 224/7. Nissanka scored 119 runs off 59 balls, hitting 16 fours and four sixes. This innings shattered several LPL records, most notably the highest individual score in LPL history.

Nissanka surpassed Laurie Evans, who held the previous record with an unbeaten 108 off 65 balls in the 2020 edition. Here are the highest individual scores in LPL history:

Interestingly, Nissanka was not selected in the first round of the LPL auction 2024 in May.
