Determined not to repeat past mistakes, Rohit Sharma guided his team to a thrilling final-over victory, ending India’s decade-long ICC trophy drought. During the celebrations, he tasted the pitch soil, astonishing fans worldwide.
Speaking to BCCI TV, Rohit Sharma explained that Barbados and its pitch would always hold a special place in his heart, and he wanted a lasting memory of the victory. “I will remember Barbados and this pitch forever – so I wanted to have a piece of it with me; those moments are very special,” Rohit said on BCCI TV.
Notably, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20I cricket after the T20 World Cup finale, passing the torch to the younger generation.
