India will commence their T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 campaign against Afghanistan on June 20 in Barbados. Team India emerged victorious over Ireland, Pakistan, and USA on their path to the Super 8 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Despite the rain forcing the cancellation of their final group match against Canada, the Men in Blue secured the top spot in the table. They will now face Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia in the next round, with all matches scheduled to take place in various venues across the West Indies.

According to former cricketer Stephen Fleming, India has strategically assembled a team well-suited to the conditions. Ahead of the tournament, Rohit Sharma emphasized the importance of having four spinners, a decision Fleming believes will pay dividends in the Super 8 and beyond. He praised India for their foresight in selecting players capable of thriving on spin-friendly tracks.
“I like the job they’ve done, they’ve got through. In my view, this team is somewhat tailored for the finals. It comprises spinners capable of dominance, as well as players adept at handling spin, which has proven significant in the West Indies but less so in New York,” Fleming remarked in ESPNcricinfo’s ‘Timeout show.
Furthermore, Fleming expects India’s bowlers to shine in the crucial games of the T20 World Cup 2024, given their current form and strategic selections.
“They’ve accomplished their tasks and have smartly strategized how they intend to approach the crucial games, aiming for the semifinals and final.” Additionally, they’ve assembled a team well-suited for playing on turning tracks, which gives them the best chance at the top and has a good balance.
India’s next match is against Afghanistan on June 20 in Barbados. Subsequently, they will face off against Bangladesh on June 22 in Antigua. Their final Super 8 game will take place against Australia on June 24 in St Lucia.
