Suresh Raina took to his Instagram story to proclaim Rohit Sharma as the premier white-ball captain after India’s historic victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.
Raina has consistently praised Rohit Sharma’s leadership qualities, going as far as refusing to hold the Mumbai Indians flag when Hardik Pandya replaced Sharma as captain.
He has previously stated that Rohit Sharma effectively captains not only Team India but also has a significant influence over the other ten IPL teams.
Rohit Sharma has been at the helm of the Indian white-ball team for the past two years. Despite the disappointment of the ODI World Cup 2023 final, Rohit’s leadership and the team’s overall performance throughout the tournament were commendable. India dominated with ten wins but faltered against Australia in the final.
Following the victory over Pakistan, Rohit Sharma’s strategic brilliance and effective use of bowlers turned the match around for India, despite Pakistan dominating for much of the game. Jasprit Bumrah was particularly outstanding, supported by his Mumbai Indians teammate Hardik Pandya, who executed Rohit’s game plan perfectly.
India’s confidence has received a significant boost from this win, especially among the bowlers, as they look ahead to their upcoming crucial match against the USA at Nassau County Stadium to secure a spot in the Super Eight.
