Liverpool’s defensive stalwart, Virgil van Dijk, has put an end to speculations regarding his potential summer transfer by expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming season under new manager Arne Slot.
Approaching the final year of his contract with the Reds, the 32-year-old has reassured fans amidst uncertainties following Jurgen Klopp’s departure and Slot’s appointment from Feyenoord. Van Dijk had hinted at a possible exit following Klopp’s announcement in January but has now firmly stated his commitment to the club under Slot’s tutelage.
“I still have a year left on my contract. I am club captain and I have made it clear I am there for the new coach and enthusiastic about the next season,” declared Van Dijk, emphasizing his confidence in Slot’s potential for success.
The Dutch defender, speaking from the Netherlands’ training camp ahead of the European Championship, reiterated his dedication to Liverpool earlier this month. “I am very happy here, I love the club, and you can see that as well. It’s a big part of my life already,” he affirmed.
