Zak Crawley is setting his sights on securing a more prominent role in England’s white-ball teams following his establishment in the Test side under the leadership of skipper Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Test opener has amassed over 1,000 runs in 13 matches, showcasing an attacking and aggressive style of play that has often propelled his team to quick starts.

Crawley’s impressive performance in Test cricket has sparked calls for his inclusion in the white-ball squads. Despite this, the 26-year-old was notably absent from England’s squads for the 50-overs World Cup last year and the upcoming Twenty20 edition next month.

Expressing his aspirations, Crawley revealed his desire to excel as a white ball player. In an interview with the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, he stated, “I’ve always wanted to be a good white-ball player.”

Acknowledging the need for adaptation, Crawley emphasized his efforts to broaden his repertoire of shots, believing his style is well-suited to the demands of white ball cricket. He reflected on his previous success in T20 cricket and expressed his eagerness to contribute in the format.

Despite his focus on Test cricket in recent years, Crawley expressed his eagerness to represent England in any format. He reiterated the significance of Test cricket while affirming his ambition to don the England jersey in white ball cricket.

“I’m trying to add a bit more power to my game,” Crawley shared, highlighting his dedication to enhancing his ability to hit bigger and more frequent sixes through rigorous training and experimentation in the nets.
