With Nico Hulkenberg set to depart at the end of 2024, leaving a vacant seat at Haas for 2025, attention has turned to Ollie Bearman, the team’s reserve driver and a standout contender for the position.
Bearman, who holds the role of reserve driver for both Haas and Ferrari, has garnered attention for his impressive performance as a super-sub for Ferrari in Saudi Arabia, where he secured a seventh-place finish replacing Carlos Sainz.
While Bearman’s success in F2 is crucial for maintaining the necessary superlicence points, his approach and performance in Haas’ FP1 sessions hold significant weight in the team’s evaluation.
According to Haas team member Komatsu, Bearman’s integration into the team has been impressive, with his first FP1 appearance in Mexico leaving no room for complaints.

Despite Hulkenberg’s impending departure, the focus remains on Bearman’s contributions to the team’s objectives during FP1 sessions. While the programmes remain unchanged, Bearman’s understanding of the team’s objectives and his ability to contribute positively are paramount.
Komatsu emphasizes Bearman’s mature approach, highlighting the importance of understanding the broader picture and responding to adversities, such as technical issues during sessions.
Should Bearman continue to demonstrate these qualities and effectively contribute to the team’s objectives, Komatsu believes it would be a logical decision to promote him to the 2025 drive.
