A recent touchline altercation between Mohamed Salah and manager Jurgen Klopp during Liverpool’s match against West Ham United has been dissected by a professional lip reader, shedding light on the heated exchange.
Salah, 31, attracted attention when he engaged in a public dispute with Klopp during the Reds’ 2-2 draw with West Ham United over the weekend.
During the game, Liverpool was leading when Salah was brought on as a substitute alongside Darwin Nunez. However, Salah appeared visibly agitated with Klopp. Apparently over a disagreement about the manner in which Salah shook Klopp’s hand before entering the pitch.
According to lip reader John Cassidy, Salah’s response to the perceived disrespectful handshake was. “There’s nothing I can do about that, nothing.” Meanwhile, Klopp’s exact response was obscured. But it appeared that Salah wasn’t ready to enter the game as quickly as Klopp wanted him to be.

Subsequently, Klopp approached Salah again, unsettling him with further comments, though the specific words were unclear. Salah then reportedly retorted, “I will, I will get a red card, after seven years. After seven years’ service, after seven years!”
Nunez intervened to de-escalate the situation, pulling Salah away. After the match, Salah ignored Klopp as he walked onto the pitch at full-time. This incident has raised questions about Salah’s future at Liverpool, especially with the imminent arrival of new manager Arne Slot.
Salah, whose contract is nearing its end, has faced criticism for what some perceive as a dip in form. Despite this, he remains Liverpool’s top scorer this season, with 24 goals in 41 matches, including 17 in the Premier League.
He played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup victory in Klopp’s final season, although hopes for success in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League have been dashed in recent weeks.
