Dwight Yorke Suggests Unai Emery as Potential Replacement for Erik ten Hag at Man Utd

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has voiced his opinion urging the club to consider Unai Emery as a replacement for Erik ten Hag this summer.

With Ten Hag facing mounting pressure amid a disappointing campaign and significant changes implemented by Sir Jim Ratcliffe following his takeover in February, United find themselves in sixth place in the Premier League.

Even with an upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City, Ten Hag’s future remains uncertain. With potential replacements already being discussed.

Yorke believes that Emery, currently at Aston Villa, could be a suitable candidate for the job. Citing Villa’s impressive performance this season under the Spaniard’s guidance.

Villa sits in fourth place in the Premier League and is in contention for their first major trophy since 1996. With a Europa Conference League semi-final looming.

Unai Emery's
Aston Villa has seen remarkable progress under Unai Emery’s management.

“Based on this season alone, you could say Unai Emery would do even better than Erik ten Hag, Mikel Arteta, or Jurgen Klopp at their clubs,” Yorke expressed. “When Emery came back to Villa, he had to show that he was harshly treated at Arsenal, and I think that hunger has driven Villa to be where they are currently.”

Despite Villa’s contractual extension of Emery’s deal until 2027. Yorke believes that Emery’s performance might attract attention from bigger clubs in the summer transfer window.

While Emery’s success at Villa has been notable, it remains to be seen whether he will be considered by United. Especially given his recent contract extension. Emery, focused on leading Villa in their upcoming Europa Conference League semi-final against Olympiakos. Has reiterated his commitment to the club amid speculation about his future.
