Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant showcased his exceptional form in the IPL 2024 with a pivotal innings of 41 runs off just 24 deliveries against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 26. Pant’s aggressive knock proved to be the match-winner as DC chased down the target of 168 runs in a convincing 18.1 overs.

Stepping up to the crease with DC at 63/2 after seven overs, Pant formed a crucial 77-run partnership with Jake Fraser-McGurk, steering the team towards a comfortable victory. Pant’s innings was a masterclass in audacious strokeplay, peppered with four boundaries and two towering sixes.
One shot that particularly stood out was his premeditated “reverse ramp” against Marcus Stoinis in the 12th over. Pant’s confidence and skill in executing such an unconventional shot left commentators Deep Dasgupta and Sunil Gavaskar in awe of his batting prowess.
In the first innings, LSG posted a competitive total of 167/7. This was largely thanks to Ayush Badoni’s heroic unbeaten knock of 55 runs off 35 balls. Kuldeep Yadav, on the other hand, was the standout bowler for DC, claiming three crucial wickets for just 20 runs in his four overs.
DC’s successful chase was further propelled by Jake Fraser-McGurk’s impressive debut half-century, scoring 55 runs off 35 balls. With this victory, DC secured two crucial points, maintaining their position second from the bottom on the points table with four points. Meanwhile, despite the loss, LSG retained their fourth position with six points from five matches.
