The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a significant development regarding Pakistani cricketer Usman Khan, revealing his breach of obligations to the board. As a result, the ECB has imposed a five-year ban on Usman, prohibiting him from participating in any tournaments hosted or sanctioned by the board.
According to the ECB‘s press release, Usman’s breach of contract led to the enforcement of the ban on his involvement in cricketing activities within the country. A thorough investigation concluded that Usman provided misleading information to the ECB regarding his decision to represent the UAE team and utilized resources to explore alternative prospects, indicating his unwillingness to fulfill obligations or complete eligibility criteria.
Despite his ban from ECB-related activities, Usman recently participated in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as a foreign player and expressed his desire to represent Pakistan. He also joined the fitness camp in Kakul, Abbottabad, hinting at his potential involvement in upcoming series.
As the Babar Azam-led unit prepares for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the United States of America (USA) and the West Indies, Usman’s role as a middle-order batter for the Pakistani team is under consideration in the finalization process for the squad composition.
