In the second over of Delhi Capitals’ chase, Mitchell Starc claimed his maiden IPL wicket by dismissing Mitchell Marsh. Marsh, attempting a powerful drive, was caught by Ramandeep Singh at cover point. This brought a sigh of relief to Starc and the KKR camp.
KKR, who had earlier posted a massive total of 272/7, needed early wickets to put pressure on DC. Starc’s success provided a crucial boost in this regard. The challenge for Delhi Capitals remained immense. Chasing a mammoth target, they found themselves reeling at a precarious 51/4 after just six overs.
Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs were at the crease, facing a daunting required run rate of 15.86, needing an improbable 222 runs from the remaining 84 balls. The odds of Delhi Capitals pulling off a miraculous victory seemed slim to none.
