Samuel Jayaraj, coach of star Indian cricketer KL Rahul, has initiated cricket training sessions in Mangalore aimed at nurturing young talents. Organized by Amrita Vidyalaya, the coaching program offers four days of free training for boys and girls aged 7 to 16 years at the Vidyalaya Stadium. Samuel Jayaraj, who began coaching Rahul at the age of 10 at Nehru Maidan, reminisced about his former student’s disciplined and intelligent approach to the game, expressing pride in Rahul’s evolution into a top cricketer.

Thinking about Rahul’s journey, Samuel Jayaraj stressed how important it is to keep getting better and work hard. He mentioned how Rahul still asks for his advice when things get tough. Jayaraj admired Rahul’s commitment and how he’s gotten better at cricket over time, showing he’s grown up as a player. Jayaraj also praised the special chance to see Rahul play with his idol, Rahul Dravid, who is now India’s head coach.
Having coached since 1986, Jayaraj commended Rahul’s talent and emphasized the importance of supporting players through both successes and setbacks. He emphasized Rahul’s continuous learning mindset and encouraged him to remain calm and enjoy his game. As Rahul continues to excel as a wicketkeeper, batter, and captain, Jayaraj remains dedicated to fine-tuning his skills and supporting his growth as a cricketer.
