Rishabh Pant Cleared for IPL 2024; Mohammed Shami & Prasidh Krishna Out

In a significant update, the BCCI medical team has cleared Rishabh Pant for participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League season, where he will feature as a wicketkeeper-batsman for Delhi Capitals. Pant’s return to fitness follows a harrowing car accident while travelling from Delhi to Roorkee, which left him with multiple injuries and sidelined him from several international fixtures. However, the dynamic cricketer has remarkably recovered and is now ready to wear the gloves for his franchise in the IPL.

Unfortunately, fast bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Shami have not been as fortunate with their fitness. Krishna recently underwent surgery for a left proximal quadriceps tendon injury, forcing him to miss IPL 2024. Similarly, Shami, who had been recovering from a right heel surgery since the 2023 World Cup, remains sidelined, unable to participate in the upcoming tournament.

Rishabh Pant availability is a significant boost for Delhi Capitals, but the absence of Shami and Krishna poses challenges for Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, respectively. As the IPL approaches, Capitals will kick off their campaign against Punjab Kings, while Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will face Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants, respectively, in their opening fixtures.
