Cameron Green Ascends in ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings

Cameron Green’s stellar unbeaten century has propelled him closer to the top 20 in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings following Australia’s victory over New Zealand. Green’s remarkable performance saw him rise 22 places to 23rd position, while his teammates Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Marnus Labuschagne experienced slight declines in the rankings.

Smith’s drop to third place, below Joe Root, came after scores of 31 and zero, marking his first time below 800 rating points since 2014. Labuschagne, too, fell out of the top 10 for the first time in over a year. However, India’s Virat Kohli, Yashaswi Jaiswal, and Rohit Sharma all saw improvements in their rankings.

Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon’s exceptional 10-wicket match haul lifted him to sixth place in the bowling rankings, just two points shy of his career-best tally achieved last year. For New Zealand, all-rounder Glenn Phillips made significant gains in both the batting and bowling rankings after standout performances in the match.

Matt Henry’s eight-wicket haul propelled him into the top 20 for the first time, while several other Kiwi players, including Rachin Ravindra and William O’Rourke, also saw improvements in their rankings.

In the one-off Test between Afghanistan and Ireland, Mark Adair’s impressive eight-wicket match haul helped Ireland secure their first-ever Test victory, leading to a significant rise in his bowling rankings. Additionally, several Afghan and Irish players made gains within the top 100 in the batting rankings.
