Despite opener Zak Crawley’s resilient knock of 60, England struggled against Indian spin attack, with Ashwin taking five wickets and Kuldeep Yadav grabbing four. England’s batting lineup faltered, leaving their bowlers with the task of leveling the series in the final session.

Earlier in the day, India’s bowlers excelled after wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel’s impressive 90-run contribution helped reduce the host’s deficit. Ashwin’s early strikes, including the dismissals of Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, set the tone for India’s dominance. Notably, Yadav’s crucial wickets, including that of Crawley and Ben Stokes, further bolstered India’s position.

England’s spinner Shoaib Bashir shone with his first Test five-wicket haul, aiding in bowling out India for 307 in their first innings, thus giving England a narrow lead of 46 runs. Jurel’s commendable partnership with Yadav in the morning session propelled India’s innings, before veteran fast bowler James Anderson intervened, inching closer to the milestone of 700 Test wickets.

Jurel’s maiden Test half-century and Bashir’s impactful bowling performance marked significant moments in the match, highlighting the competitive spirit between the two teams amidst the quest for victory.
