courageous decision to accept a fight on short notice was admirable, but Marcos Rogerio de Lima proved to be the superior fighter at UFC 298.
In a heavyweight preliminary bout held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Rogerio de Lima dominated the fight by relentlessly targeting Tafa’s lead leg with kicks. From the outset, the damage inflicted by the leg kicks significantly compromised Tafa’s mobility.

Although Tafa managed to weather the storm and recover at various points, de Lima’s strategy of mixing in grappling and clinch work didn’t deter him from returning to his effective leg kicks in the second round.
Early in Round 2, de Lima resumed his assault on Tafa’s leg, ultimately leading to a decisive stoppage at 1:14 of the round.
With this victory, de Lima rebounds from a previous loss to Derrick Lewis and improves his record to 3-1 in his last four fights.
As for Tafa, he returns to the loss column following a win over Parker Porter in August. Originally scheduled to face Karl Williams at a UFC Fight Night event on March 23, the status of Tafa’s next bout is currently uncertain.
