In the opening bout of the UFC 298 prelims, Amanda Lemos showcased her dominance in a hard fought showdown against Mackenzie Dern, ultimately securing a victory to solidify her status as a top contender in the UFC strawweight division.
Initially, Lemos demonstrated her striking prowess with heavy leg kicks and precise punches, leaving Dern struggling to find her rhythm. However, Dern managed to turn the tide momentarily with a well executed take down, controlling Lemos on the ground for a significant portion of the round.
Undeterred, Lemos came back strong in the second round, unleashing a barrage of punches that left Dern visibly battered. Despite Dern’s resilience and a late surge, Amanda Lemos maintained her composure and secured the round.
Entering the third round with a battered face, Dern showed resilience and aggression, attempting to impose her grappling skills. Although Dern managed to take the fight to the ground and threaten with submission attempts, Lemos showcased her defensive capabilities and managed to survive the onslaught.

After three hard-fought rounds, the judges scored the bout unanimously in favor of Amanda Lemos, who bounced back from a previous title fight loss. Dern, who stepped up on short notice, suffered back-to-back losses for the first time in her career.
In another compelling matchup, Marcos Rogerio de Lima delivered a dominant performance against Junior Tafa in the lone heavyweight bout of the evening. De Lima’s relentless calf kicks quickly debilitated Tafa, paving the way for a ground assault that forced the referee to call a stop to the contest in the second round.
Elsewhere on the prelims, Rinya Nakamura showcased his wrestling prowess in a comprehensive victory over Carlos Vera, while Mingyang Zhang announced his arrival in the UFC light heavyweight division with a stunning knock out victory over Brendson Ribeiro.
In addition, Danny Barlow secured a third round TKO victory over Josh Quinlan in a welterweight clash, and Oban Elliott made a successful UFC debut with a unanimous decision win over Valentine Woodburn.
Finally, Miranda Maverick displayed superior speed and foot work en route to a unanimous decision victory over Andrea Lee in the women’s fly weight opener, further solidifying her position in the division.
Overall, the UFC 298 prelims delivered a series of thrilling match ups, setting the stage for an action packed main card.
