The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Sunday that England spinner Jack Leach will miss the remainder of the Test series against India due to a left knee injury. Leach sustained the injury during England’s first Test victory in Hyderabad, which led to his absence from the subsequent match in Vizag.
As a result of the injury, Jack Leach will return home from Abu Dhabi within the next 24 hours. The England team had been stationed in Abu Dhabi ahead of the third Test in Rajkot, scheduled to commence on Thursday. The ECB stated that Leach will undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of both the England and Somerset medical teams.

With Leach ruled out, England has decided against calling up a replacement spinner for the ongoing series. The development comes with the Test series finely poised at 1-1 after India clinched victory in the second match in Visakhapatnam by a margin of 106 runs.
Leach’s absence will be a blow to England’s bowling attack, particularly given his performance in the first Test and his role in the team’s strategy against the formidable Indian batting lineup. England will sorely miss the left-arm spinner as they aim to secure a series victory against the hosts in challenging conditions.
The loss of Leach adds to England’s injury woes, with several key players already sidelined or battling fitness concerns. His absence presents an opportunity for other spinners in the squad to step up and fill the void as England seeks to bounce back in the remaining matches of the series.
