The future of MotoGP superstar Marc Marquez remains shrouded in uncertainty as both KTM and Ducati appear out of the picture for 2025.
Despite a long-standing interest and shared Red Bull sponsorship, KTM has denied any possibility of signing the six-time world champion. “Marc is not available,” declared KTM team manager Francesco Guidotti.
Meanwhile, Ducati’s factory team seat also seems precarious for Marquez. The Italian manufacturer is caught in a rider dilemma with both Enea Bastianini’s replacement and Jorge Martin’s future undecided. Initially, Ducati planned to promote Martin and shuffle Marquez to their satellite Pramac team. However, Marquez firmly rejected the Pramac option.
To accommodate Marquez, Ducati is now considering a radical solution – introducing a fifth factory bike for the 2025 season. This would allow Marquez to stay with Gresini, but with upgraded machinery. However, it’s unclear if Ducati will actually implement this unconventional plan.
On the other hand, KTM has solidified their future with the young talent Pedro Acosta joining Brad Binder in their 2025 MotoGP line-up.
Adding to the drama, a Spanish newspaper reported that KTM’s satellite team, Tech3 GASGAS, might have been a potential landing spot for Marquez with a factory-spec bike and Red Bull sponsorship. However, even talented rookie Pedro Acosta seems unsure about the validity of these rumors, calling the entire Ducati situation a “soap opera” with constant speculation and no clear answers.
With both KTM and Ducati seemingly out of the picture, the future remains wide open for Marc Marquez. Will he stay with Gresini on a non-factory bike? Will Ducati create a special seat for him? Or will a surprise team emerge as a contender for his signature? Only time will tell how this MotoGP transfer saga unfolds.
