Cameron Green Ruled Out of India ODIs, Labuschagne Recalled Amid Australia’s Injury Concerns

Australia have suffered another injury setback with Cameron Green ruled out of the ODI series against India due to low-grade side soreness, raising concerns ahead of the Ashes. The 26-year-old allrounder was withdrawn from the squad on Friday, with Marnus Labuschagne called up as his replacement. Labuschagne will join the team in Perth after completing his Sheffield Shield match for South Australia on Saturday night.

Cameron Green Ruled Out of India ODIs, Labuschagne Recalled Amid Australia’s Injury Concerns

Green recently returned to bowling following back surgery last year and skipped the T20I tour of New Zealand to play for Western Australia in the opening Shield round. He bowled only four overs instead of the planned eight due to medical restrictions and was building his bowling workload ahead of the domestic season. Although he wasn’t expected to bowl in the first two ODIs, Green was targeting more overs in the third Shield round starting October 28. He was already set to miss the final ODI and T20I series to prepare for the Ashes.

Green experienced soreness after training this week and will undergo a brief rehabilitation period, hoping to return for Western Australia’s next Shield fixture against South Australia. His absence adds to Australia’s growing injury list. Test captain Pat Cummins remains doubtful for the first Ashes Test, while Beau Webster is recovering from an ankle injury.Australia’s ODI squad is also missing several key players. Cummins, Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa, and Alex Carey are unavailable for the opening match in Perth due to fitness issues and personal reasons. Labuschagne earned his recall after scoring heavily in domestic cricket, including a 159 in the One-Day Cup. Green’s absence not only weakens Australia’s balance but also raises questions over his readiness for the crucial home Ashes series next month.
