Ryan Garcia, amidst ongoing controversies, disclosed startling details about his fight against Devin Haney.
The 140-pound contender, who faced Haney on April 20 and later tested positive for a banned substance, revealed on the Fully Tilted Podcast with Bob Menery that he was under the influence during the fight.
Despite this admission, Garcia vehemently denied using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), asserting. “If I were on steroids, I would’ve been in way better shape.” He clarified that he had requested testing of his B samples.
Garcia confessed to engaging in habitual alcohol consumption and marijuana use leading up to the fight, even on the day of the bout. He claimed to have entered the ring “high as f*ck” but still emerged victorious against Haney.
The bout against Haney was marred by controversy from the outset. Garcia weighed in over the limit, rendering him ineligible to win the belt. However, he surprised the boxing world by knocking down the champion three times and securing a decision victory.
News of Garcia’s positive drug test cast a shadow over the outcome, casting doubts on the legitimacy of his win and raising concerns about his future in the sport.
Should the authorities confirm the presence of the banned substance Ostarine in his system and fail to exonerate him. Garcia risks losing the victory, facing suspension, and being subjected to fines, thereby leaving his career in jeopardy.
