IPL 2025: BCCI Announces Deadline for Submitting Retained Players List

With the IPL 2025 mega auction approaching, the BCCI has established a key deadline for teams. All 10 franchises must submit their lists of retained players by October 31, 2024, as confirmed by the IPL Governing Council. This move aims to streamline the auction process and foster a competitive environment for both teams and players.

Franchises have until 5 PM IST on October 31 to finalize their retention lists. Notably, any player who is capped on or before this date will be categorized as a capped player for retention purposes. Teams can retain a total of up to six players, either through regular retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) card.

The retention policy allows teams to maintain a core group of players. It also provides flexibility to adapt to changing team dynamics. Each team’s auction purse has increased to Rs 120 crore, giving franchises more financial freedom.

  • Maximum Retentions: Teams can retain up to six players, either through regular retention or RTM cards.
  • Capped Players: A maximum of five capped players (Indian or overseas) can be retained.
