Harry Kane Breaks Erling Haaland’s Record with Hat-Trick for Bayern Munich

Harry Kane has etched his name into Bundesliga history by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals in the German league, surpassing the record previously held by Erling Haaland.

Kane’s remarkable achievement came after he netted a hat-trick in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 victory over Augsburg on Friday, taking his tally to 50 Bundesliga goals in just 43 matches. This milestone is seven games quicker than Haaland’s record of 50 goals, which he set during his time at Borussia Dortmund between 2020 and 2022.

The English striker, who joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, now has an impressive 61 goals in 61 games across all competitions for the Bavarian giants. With Bayern sitting comfortably atop the Bundesliga standings, Kane is in excellent form as he seeks to end his long-running trophy drought with his new club.

Kane’s decision to move from Tottenham to Bayern in search of silverware has put a temporary hold on his pursuit of Premier League records. Having scored 213 goals for Spurs, Kane is second on the Premier League’s all-time scoring list, behind Alan Shearer, who holds the record with 260 goals.

In his first season in the Bundesliga, Kane narrowly missed out on breaking Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single campaign. The Englishman finished five goals short of the Polish striker’s mark last season, but with his current form, Kane appears ready to challenge for that record in the current campaign.

Despite his successful start in Germany, Kane’s international future has recently come under scrutiny. He was left out of the starting lineup for England’s recent win over Greece, with Ollie Watkins preferred in attack. However, Kane returned to the starting XI for the match against the Republic of Ireland, and has remained adamant that he is playing at his best, even as he approaches his 30s.

“I’m performing at the highest level I’ve ever performed,” Kane said. “There’s sometimes a perception when you get into your thirties that you’re coming to an end, but I feel as good as I’ve ever felt. It’s about taking in the moment and enjoying it.”

With his stellar form in Germany, Kane’s focus remains on Bayern Munich’s success as they aim for more titles this season, with the striker poised to break even more records along the way.
