The 2024 MotoGP season will be etched in history as Ducati’s crowning achievement, cementing its status as the premier force in motorcycle racing. With an overwhelming performance, the Italian manufacturer shattered records on its way to another world title.
Having debuted in MotoGP in 2003 during an era dominated by Japanese manufacturers, Ducati has experienced both triumphant highs and challenging lows. Its journey began with an impressive debut year, and by 2007, Casey Stoner delivered the brand’s first world championship. However, the Desmosedici bike’s reputation as a challenging machine saw Ducati drift from championship contention after Stoner’s departure in 2011.
The high-profile signing of Valentino Rossi yielded just three podiums in two years, leading to his departure in 2013. That same year, Ducati made a pivotal move, hiring Gigi Dall’Igna as general manager. Under his leadership, the company rebuilt its foundation, culminating in a return to race-winning form by 2016. Ducati steadily climbed MotoGP’s ranks, reclaiming championship contention in 2022, when Francesco Bagnaia overturned a 91-point deficit to secure the title.

By 2024, Ducati had firmly established its dominance. The numbers from the season are staggering:
- 19 victories out of 20 Grands Prix, setting an all-time MotoGP record.
- 14 podium lockouts, another record-breaking achievement.
- 53 podium finishes and 16 pole positions from six of its eight riders.
- A run of 66 consecutive podium finishes, extending its incredible streak.
- A rider on the podium in every sprint race.
Ducati’s achievements solidified its position as the first European manufacturer in MotoGP history to surpass 100 grand prix victories, with a current total of 106.
The 2024 season also marked Ducati’s fifth consecutive constructors’ championship win. Its satellite team, Pramac Racing, claimed the teams’ championship title, while Jorge Martin earned his maiden MotoGP world championship, becoming Ducati’s third premier class champion.
Reflecting on the season, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali lauded the collective effort that drove the brand’s unparalleled success:
“The dominance expressed by Ducati with its bikes, riders, and technicians in the 2024 MotoGP season will forever remain in the hearts of fans. Jorge Martin’s incredible talent, nurtured within the Ducati family, has brought a lifelong dream to fruition. This season is the triumph of a system — the Ducati System — inspired by the teachings of Galileo Galilei, which combines science, engineering, and innovation to achieve excellence. We proudly represent Made in Italy engineering on the global stage.”
With its 2024 campaign, Ducati not only secured its place at the pinnacle of MotoGP but also set a benchmark for excellence that will inspire generations to come.
