Australia, the defending champions, have revealed their squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE, scheduled for October.
After Meg Lanning retired from international cricket, Australia named Alyssa Healy as the new captain, who will lead the team in a World Cup for the first time. The squad remains largely unchanged, with the notable omission of Jess Jonassen. Despite her impressive form in the Women’s Premier League and The Hundred, and being Australia’s top wicket-taking spinner recently, the selectors have left Jonassen out of the squad.

Fast bowler Darcie Brown’s return from a foot injury strengthens the squad. This will significantly strengthen Australia’s bid to retain their title in the UAE. Grace Harris, who missed The Hundred due to a calf injury, is also back in the squad, bringing her all-round capabilities to the team.
Promising young talent Phoebe Litchfield will debut in an ICC tournament and is likely to open the batting with captain Healy.
Before the World Cup, Australia will play a three-match T20I series against New Zealand, providing valuable preparation for the tournament. Australia was initially set to face Sri Lanka in their World Cup opener, but the updated schedule is pending due to the tournament’s relocation from Bangladesh to the UAE.
