The midday practice start session at the Buriram MotoGP test saw several riders struggle with grip, but none had a more dramatic moment than Fermin Aldeguer. The Spanish rookie got a wild spin off the line, nearly colliding with Gresini Racing teammate Alex Marquezβbut fortunately, disaster was avoided. π²π
π₯ What Went Wrong?
Aldeguer explained that his chaotic launch was due to the track conditions at Buriram.
π£οΈ βIt was crazy. Itβs the first time Iβve had a slip like this, but itβs normal when the track is in this condition. Other riders had the same problemβnot as big, but still.β
Despite the close call, Aldeguer clarified that his grid position next to Marquez was purely coincidental, not a strategy to analyze his teammateβs starts.
π βAt the end, I donβt need Alex [Marquez] to see if my practice start is good or not. With the data, we can see everything.β
π§ Work in Progress
Aldeguer admitted that his starts need improvement, especially given the slippery track surface at Buriram.
βοΈ βWe have to improve this a little bit. Today, with the track being slippery, we didnβt do the best, but we will see.β

π Adapting to the Ducati at Buriram
Beyond his tricky practice starts, Aldeguer faced challenges adapting his riding style on the Ducati Desmosedici GP24 at Buriramβa track where he won in Moto2 last year.
π βBuriram is completely different from Sepang. The style here is different, and we use a different Michelin casingβso another thing to adapt to.β
β³ βThis morning wasnβt easy, but we worked calmly, and after the break, we made a good step. We arenβt at the top yet, but weβre moving in the right direction.β
π Whatβs Next for Aldeguer?
As he continues to adjust to the Ducati and refine his starts, Aldeguer remains focused on improving throughout the Buriram test. With steady progress, the Spanish talent is looking to find his rhythm and climb the timesheets. β©πͺ
