Barcelona, Spain – In-bound Pramac Yamaha rider Jack Miller has expressed reservations about seeking advice from Cal Crutchlow on adapting to the Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP bike, calling him “a bad person to talk to” when it comes to the bike’s characteristics.

Crutchlow, who retired from full-time racing at the end of the 2020 season, has served as Yamaha’s official MotoGP test rider since 2021. While he brings invaluable experience to the role, Miller, who raced alongside Crutchlow at LCR Honda in 2015, suggests that Crutchlow’s feedback might be overly exaggerated, making it less reliable.

“Cal is a bad person to talk to because, if you know Cal, you know he loves to exaggerate sometimes, whether it’s good or bad,” Miller explained after the Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona. “I’ve been touching base with Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, and those boys, but of course, Cal’s got a great experience on the M1. But you take what he says with a grain of salt. I think it’s better to ask Lucy [Crutchlow, Cal’s wife] what he really thinks of the Yamaha because I think she’s the only one he tells the full truth to.”

Miller, who will join Pramac Yamaha in 2025, is keen to get the right advice as he prepares to make the switch. He’s been in contact with current Yamaha riders like Quartararo and Rins, who offer more direct insight into the M1’s setup and handling.

Jack Miller Looks Forward to 2025 Season

Miller will officially return to Pramac Yamaha on November 19, just two days after his future teammate, Jorge Martin, made history by becoming the first ‘Independent’ rider to win the MotoGP World Championship in the four-stroke era.

Miller congratulated Martin and the Pramac team for their remarkable achievement. “Massive congratulations to those guys,” Miller said. “It’s a credit to Paolo [Campinoti] and the whole team. For an independent team to win the championship is incredible. It just shows the strength of the field in 2024 in MotoGP.”

The Australian rider also praised fellow title contender Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, who secured 11 race wins during the season. “Hats off to Jorge and Pecco as well—11 wins, that’s no small feat.”

Looking ahead to his own 2025 campaign, Miller expressed excitement about the challenge. “I’m looking forward to 2025 already. Obviously, I’m not looking forward to having these ‘animals’ racing against me, but hopefully we can try to challenge those boys.”

As Miller prepares to take on the Yamaha M1, his determination to compete at the highest level is clear, as he eyes the next chapter in his MotoGP career.
